INFERTILITY

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has deep traditions of treating infertility using acupuncture and herbs. This method is becoming more and more popular for those looking for natural and safe means, planning pregnancy naturally or using a complex treatment such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

Infertility can also be the result of other medical conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, fibroids, low egg reserve or poor sperm quality.

According to TCM, the uterus is not an "isolated" organ. Other TCM organs are also involved in the development of life - Kidney, Heart, Liver and Spleen. They all have an important role in maintaining the functions of the uterus, therefore various disorders of the menstrual cycle, exhaustion of the body, chronic anxiety or stress also might be the reason why it becomes difficult to get pregnant.

How does acupuncture help?

Acupuncture and herbs can help regulate the menstrual cycle, improve follicle and ovarian function, sperm quality and motility, and increase blood flow to the endometrium, thereby making the uterine lining thick and rich. The body gets relaxed, and blood circulation in the pelvic area is significantly improved.

When is the best time to start?

It is recommended to start acupuncture treatment at least 3 months before the start of IVF (follicle puncture stage).

How often should acupuncture be applied?

During the preparation period, the treatment is performed on average once a week. 1-2 weeks before follicle puncture, the treatment is applied 2-3 times a week. Acupuncture is  recommended to be applied on the same day before puncture, as well as before and after embryo implantation.
